Admiral Pest Control: A City Fixture for 58 Years
Ten years before Bellflower became an incorporated city, Walter Lance started Admiral Pest Control. In 1950 Lance moved his business to its current location at 9434 Artesia Boulevard.
"When my grandfather moved the company, Artesia was a dirt road and next door was a chicken ranch," said Jeff Jones, Admiral Pest Control's vice president.

The area and the company have seen a lot of growth since then. Admiral Pest Control now serves Los Angeles and Orange counties with a fleet of over 30 radio dispatched vehicles and more than 40 employees. The family business handles all types of pest control, from termite fumigation to general insect control, gophers and even nuisance birds. In addition to the Bellflower office, Admiral maintains an office in Irvine, which is overseen by Jeff's brother, Brian Jones.
"We were born and raised in Bellflower," said Jeff. Both the Jones brothers and their father, Earl Jones (who married Lance's daughter) served as directors of the Bellflower Chamber of Commerce. Lance served as a past president of the chamber, and former president of the National Pest Control Association.
"The City is very supportive and business friendly. They helped with many problems like parking on the street in front of our business. They're very proactive in keeping us in Bellflower."
For the month of September, Admiral Pest Control will give all Bellflower residents a 10 percent discount on any new service. For more information, call Admiral at 1-800-801-7378.
