State of the City to Highlight Accomplishments, Challenges
February 25th
City of Bellflower residents and business owners are invited to relive this past year’s accomplishments while looking ahead to a challenging 2010 during the Bellflower’s annual State of the City address on Thursday, February 25th at Simms Park (located at 16614 South Clark Avenue in Bellflower). The event, themed “The Rocky Road Ahead,” will begin at 11:30 a.m. and include lunch courtesy of Café Camellia. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Bellflower City Hall or Simms Park. Seating is limited and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
City Manager Mike Egan will discuss a variety of topics, including the City’s efforts to deal with the ongoing economic crisis, budget challenges, public safety, blight, regulatory changes and future projects.
The City will also honor students from Bellflower Middle and High Schools who made and sold beaded bracelets, raising more than $2,000 to donate to Smile Train – an organization that provides surgeries to children in third-world countries that suffer from cleft lip and cleft palate.
