The Planning Division of the Community Development Department provides staff support to the City Council, Planning Commission and Design Review Committee in formulating and administering plans, programs, design review guidelines and legislation for guiding the City's development in a manner consistent with the community's social, economic and environment goals.
The Duties of the Planning Division Include:
Maintain a comprehensive plan which accurately reflects long and short-range community goals and environmental concerns and which fosters a local economy which creates jobs, attracts investment and increases the City's tax base in order to provide an acceptable level of municipal services.

Administer and coordinate City, State and regional land use regulations and other legislation to ensure development that is consistent with the City's standards, policies and plans and that will enhance the quality of property maintenance and the environmental character of the community.
Provide technical assistance to developers and citizens in a manner which facilitates their compliance with development standards and regulations with a minimum of inconvenience.
Provide the City Council, Planning Commission and City Administrator accurate, timely and complete information and recommendations relative to land use and zoning applications, building codes and practices, capital improvements, legislation, development programs, code enforcement and other matters affecting the City's environment.
