Planning Division
The Planning Division of the Planning Department provides staff support to the City Council, Planning Commission, and Development Review in formulating and administering plans, programs, design review guidelines, and legislation for guiding the City's development in a manner consistent with the community's social, economic, and environmental goals.
Duties
- Maintains a comprehensive plan which accurately reflects long and short-range community goals and environmental concerns, and which fosters a local economy which creates jobs, attracts investment, and increases the City's tax base in order to provide an acceptable level of municipal services.
- Administers and coordinates City, State, and regional land use regulations, and other legislation to ensure development that is consistent with the City's standards, policies, and plans, and that will enhance the quality of property maintenance and the environmental character of the community.
- Provides technical assistance to developers and citizens in a manner which facilitates their compliance with development standards and regulations with a minimum amount of inconvenience.
- Provides accurate, timely, and complete information and recommendations to the City Council, Planning Commission, and City Manager relating to land use and zoning applications, building codes and practices, capital improvements, legislation, development programs, and other matters affecting the City's environment.
