Seniors are invited to Simms Park every weekday at 11:30 a.m. for a hot lunch, activities and socializing with friends and neighbors.
"We serve a good hot meal that's also well balanced and nutritious," said Della Chesney, site manager for the program.
The Human Services Association (HSA) sponsors the program, and there is a recommended donation of $2.25 per meal. Reservations are necessary at least 24 hours in advance. For reservations or more information, call (562) 925-6485.
For homebound seniors, HSA also sponsors a Meals-on-Wheels program. Seniors who would like a hot nutritious meal delivered to their home during lunch should call (562) 806-5400.
"Bringing warm food and human contact to those who can't leave their homes is a rewarding experience," said Chesney.
The program also needs volunteers to help serve meals Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Simms Park. For details, call (562) 925-6485.
