Bellflower Rotary and Vision To Learn Distribute Additional 83 Free Eye Glasses to Bellflower Unified Students

The Rotary Club of Bellflower and Vision To Learn have provided vision screenings for seven Title 1 Schools in the Bellflower Unified School District (BUSD). Over the last two years, more than 603 elementary kids in need of glasses were helped and the Rotary Club is now working to further expand the program’s reach within the community.

This year, four elementary schools were pre-screened by a team of twelve Rotarians, a couple of Caring Connection Members, and some parents. All of their screenings and all of the State Mandated Screenings were then merged together and tested by Vision To Learn's Optometrists.  Students were then given the opportunity to pick out their own frames and approximately two weeks later, they received their new glasses during a general assembly at each of the schools.

With a prevailing need for glasses, the Rotary club now has their sights set on bringing the Vision to Learn Project to Junior High and High School students as well. They have already pre-screened students at Bellflower Middle / High School  this year and have referred roughly 700 students to the Vision to Learn Optometrist. The rotary club invites you to help their initiative in providing the gift of vision. For more information about the program and how you can help, visit www.clubrunner.ca/Bellflower.
