Get Moving at the New Simms Park Outdoor Fitness Center & Trail
The City of Bellflower encourages residents to live a healthy lifestyle and is proud to announce the anticipated completion of the Simms Park Fitness Center and Trail. The grand opening ceremony will be held on Tuesday, December 13th at 3:00 p.m. (Ribbon cutting details will be announced on the city’s website and social media pages).
The new fitness center and trail will provide individuals with an opportunity to engage in self-directed physical fitness activities using state of the art equipment at no cost. Not only will individual users be able to take advantage of the fitness equipment, but many families will also have the opportunity to spend quality time together while engaging in physical fitness activities.
The completed project will consist of 30 fitness equipment units (including wheelchair accessible units) by Greenfield’s Outdoor Fitness and they will serve up to 50 individuals at one time. Similar fitness equipment was also installed at Caruthers Park and Zinn Community Park & Trail. There will also be an open space provided at the center for community fitness classes.
The new trail at Simms Park will connect existing walking paths to one another and create a half-mile long loop around the park. New 12’ fencing will also be installed to protect the walking trail from athletic field usage.
This project was funded by the Los Angeles County Fourth District Supervisor Don Knabe’s Proposition A Park Bond. For more information visit www.bellflower.org or follow Bellflower City Hall on Facebook.
