Bellflower Announces Exciting Summer Streetfest Concerts and Food, Flicks & Fun
Summer Events Begin Thursday, June 29th
The City of Bellflower Parks & Recreation Department invites residents to come out and enjoy the exciting line up of hot summer entertainment for the whole family that includes food, flicks, a variety of music and much more under the stars in the heart of downtown Bellflower.
The summer events schedule kicks off a week earlier this year on Thursday, June 29, 2017 with Bellflower’s popular Summer Streetfest concert series. The community favorite, Soto Band will get Bellflower Boulevard dancing in the street with their pop, Latin rock, and favorite dance tunes. The second concert on Thursday, July 13, 2017 will feature the return of Country music to the Bellflower Summer Streetfests. Throw on your boots and cowboy hats for some line-dancin’ fun with CJ Simmons.
These events will feature live music, food vendors, craft and business vendors, and free activities and games with the Bellflower Recreation in Motion (B.R.I.M.) program. The concerts and parking are free to the public and music will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 9:30 p.m. There will be charges for food and vendor pricing will vary. Concert goers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and no alcohol or pets will be allowed.
On Friday, July 7, 2017, our first of four Food, Flicks & Fun events will take place at Town Center Plaza located at 16521 Adenmoor Ave., near the intersection of Bellflower Blvd. and Belmont Street. The movie SING will be projected onto a large outdoor screen, which will be preceded by a free concert from The Colony Boys band. The band is made up of teen musicians from Anaheim, CA who specializes in early rock and rockabilly tunes, and will also perform crowd favorite songs from the movie SING. The fun will continue with Moana on Friday, July 21, 2017, with a special appearance from a real-life Moana who will sing and dance with the crowd. Finding Dory will be shown on Friday, August 4, 2017 and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will conclude the Food, Flicks & Fun events on Friday, August 18, 2017. In addition to movies, a variety of food vendors and trucks will provide refreshments for every appetite.
The food vendors and trucks will be on site beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the movie begins at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.). The movie and parking are free to the public; however there will be charges for refreshments from the food vendors where selection and pricing will vary. Movie goers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets and no alcohol or pets will be allowed.
There will be pre-movie activities and entertainment such as band performances, cos-play movie characters, raffles, and more. The B.R.I.M. program will be on site prior to show time to provide free games and fun activities for children in attendance.
“My City Council colleagues and I are thrilled to once again bring summer fun and high quality entertainment to downtown Bellflower.
