Bellflower Photo Contest Now Open

Where are your favorite places to explore in the City of Bellflower? Whether it's your local park, favorite restaurant, or place to go for fun with friends, capture a photo and submit it for a chance to win a gift card! The photo contest is open to Bellflower residents only and all photos must be of locations within Bellflower city limits taken in September 2023 or October 2023.

The City of Bellflower Photo Contest will provide an opportunity for photographers of all skill levels to share their perspective of the Bellflower community and culture. Amateur and professional photographers are encouraged to enter. Questions? Please call (562) 804-1424, ext. 2103.

1st Place = $100

Adult Division (18 and older):

HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST

Each contestant can submit only one photo.

Photo must be submitted printed on 12 inches x 18 inches size 3/16” foam core board. The actual size of the photo may be smaller, but foam core submission must measure 12 inches x 18 inches.  No frames.  On Graphics (15903 Lakewood Blvd., Suite 101) offers to print photos at a discounted price.

Printed photo, registration form/entry agreement, and proof of Bellflower residency (ID, utility bill, report card) must be delivered to the Parks and Recreation Administration office at Simms Park (16614 S. Clark Ave.) during business hours and no later than 4:00 p.m. on November 1, 2023.

CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS

Contest open to Bellflower residents only (proof of residency required/ID, utility bill, report card).

Photo eligibility is at the discretion of City staff.

Photo must be original work taken by the contestant.

Each contestant can submit only one photo.

Photo must be taken during the month of September 2023 or October 2023 in the City of Bellflower. The contestant will certify this on the submission form. Submissions with locations that are clearly not in the City will be rejected. 

Photos of individual(s) must have approval from the subject(s).

Contestants under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian enter photos on their behalf and provide consent.

Winners are selected by a panel of judges, all of whom have experience in photography, design and/or marketing.

Finalists will be selected and notified by November 6, 2023. Upon notification, finalists must provide a high-resolution digital copy of their photo to City staff. Minimum digital requirements are 300dpi Jpeg.

Photos will be judged based on:  its impact, the story it tells, creativity, technical quality, composition, style, points of interest, lighting and color.

Photos selected as finalists will be displayed at a reception in the lobby of Bellflower City Hall, 16600 Civic Center Drive, on November 14, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. The top three winners in each category will be announced at the reception.

Winning photos will be displayed at City Hall until December 29, 2023.

Finalists will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition.

Prizes (gift cards): 

Youth Division (17 and younger) - First - $100, Second - $50, and Third - $25

Adult Division (18 and older) - First - $200, Second - $100, and Third - $50

The City reserves the right not to award prizes if a suitable photograph has not been entered.

City employees are not eligible to participate.
