Bellflower's Fiscal Health Continues to Improve

According to the California State Auditor's fiscal health analysis, the City of Bellflower ranks in the top 17% of 430 cities evaluated. The State Auditor’s Office released a new fiscal health report for fiscal year 2020-2021 which ranks cities from the worst (#1) to best (#430) fiscal health. The new report lists Bellflower as being ranked #358 out of 430 cities – with a score of 89.79 out of 100.  Since fiscal year 2016-2017, Bellflower's score has increased over 16 points and continues to trend up.  The City of Bellflower is pleased to report the City is in the best fiscal health since its incorporation in 1957. 

In 2015, the State Auditor's Office established a high-risk local government agency audit program to identify local government agencies that are at risk of fiscal distress. The State Auditor's Office looks at the following factors to determine the rankings: Financial Reserves, Debt Burden, Cash Position/Liquidity, Revenue Trends and Retirement Obligations.  Source: California State Auditor - Process and Methodology for the Local High-Risk Program
